What Happens in the Strip Club Stays in the Strip Club

Several Las Vegas Strip Clubs Closed Their Doors in 2013

Closed Las Vegas Strip ClubsThere once was a time in Las Vegas when owning a strip club was a fairly secure way to generate a sizable profit. After all there was an abundance of people who were eager to visit a Las Vegas strip club and not shy about shelling out money for a cover charge, pricey drinks and high end dancers.

Such demand along with a growing Las Vegas sparked the opening of many new strip clubs. These new clubs were much bigger and nicer than anything that had previously existed in Vegas. Then came a mortgage crisis and high unemployment and soon the strip club market was not as advantageous as most of us were accustomed to.

There is about 2 weeks left to the year 2013 and looking back over the last 12 months I have observed the closing of at least 6 strip clubs and a pan-sexual sex club. At one time that was unimaginable but it really did happen lets take a closer look at the clubs that closed their doors this last year.

Secret Gentlemen’s Club – This was a decent size club on Valley View Blvd near the Rio Hotel that has operated under several different names over the last 15 years. Not sure if this location ever did well anytime I had been there or drove by it never was real busy.

Cover Girls Gentlemen’s Club & Steakhouse – Cover Girls was an upscale topless strip club and steakhouse located near West Desert Inn Rd and Valley View. This location was formerly home to Rick’s Cabaret, Scores and Jaguars. Back in the mid 1990’s this site was billed as the world largest strip club but many larger clubs have since opened.

Vince Neil’s Girls Girls Girls – Hmm, this previously was Déjà vu Ultimate Nightclub before that it was Seamless then in 2012 it reopened with rock band Motley Crue front man Vince Neil’s name on the sign. Sad to see this club close, love Vince Neil and the Crue not sure how much he was involved but being located behind The Orleans along with high unemployment numbers in Vegas was probably too much to overcome.

Privilege Gentlemen’s Club – This was where the Badda Bing once existed which was a good size club and a nice location providing easy access for locals and tourists. The Bing did a lot of advertising, three or four years ago they were always running ads on the radio, Youtube videos and numerous publications yet it still wasn’t enough. The club then reopened as Privilege a hip hop themed club; sorry to say it didn’t seem to last long.

Discreet Gentlemen’s Club – This was such a nice place, not real big but not small. Discreet had a nice friendly atmosphere but the location may have hindered business. Most of us remember this was the site of Minxx where over the 2007 NBA All Star weekend a tragic and highly publicized shooting took place making any future business here difficult to succeed.

Sheri’s Cabaret – This was a small 2 story totally nude strip club on Highland Dr. Just recently realized Sheri’s was no longer open, they had been in operation here quite some time. Their website is still up and running and the phone number is not disconnected as it just rings and rings. Perhaps this closure is temporary just don’t know will watch closely.

Power Exchange – Wow where do I start with this club? Power Exchange was a pan-sexual sex club which means it was friendly to all legal sexual preferences imaginable. The place was huge but losing about $10,000 a month but that is not why it closed. Power Exchange closed because back in July of 2013 they were raided by Las Vegas Police, Homeland Security and US Customs. Those guys can really damage your business but then again they just don’t knock your door down for any reason.

The raid was not sexually oriented it was about the manufacturing and distributing of synthetic drugs, some pretty serious stuff. The club changed ownership this year and it appears the new owner was using Power Exchange as a front to his drug manufacturing, allegedly of course. The funny thing is their phone number is still in service and goes to a recorded message as if I just called on off night or something. A simple check on the Clark County business license search shows that no business license is current or pending for this address and furthermore that the Power Exchange license became inactive in September 2013.

One thing all these closed strip clubs have in common is that they were all located on a site that previously was the home to failed strip club. Sometimes the location just does not work no matter what you do and sometimes a location just gets a bad reputation that it can not shake.

Then again Las Vegas is pretty well set with strip clubs of all sizes and value so opening a new strip club in today’s market is very risky.

How to Avoid that Costly Las Vegas Strip Club Cover Charge

strip club cover charge Las VegasLas Vegas is famous for so many things and yes strip clubs is one of those things. There are approximately 23 strip clubs open for business throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Yes a few Las Vegas strip clubs recently closed bringing the total number down sad but true.

Over the last decade we have seen many of these strip clubs transform into large luxurious clubs that offer many fine amenities and feature hundreds of beautiful dancers but with that comes a hefty cover charge to enter the club. Typically the cover charge for most of the upscale strip clubs in Vegas is $30. So if four men decide to go out and party at one of the better strip clubs it will cost $120 for all four of them to get through the door.

That is a lot of money to fork over tow walk through the door all before you get anything to drink or even take a peak at any of the girls. Oh but relax as there is a way to bypass that cover charge and in some cases even get a free ride to and from the strip club, let me tell you how.

Recently many of the larger strip clubs began providing transportation to and form the club. You may reserve a free ride in a limousine or a shuttle van depending on the club and best of all get in the door for free.

You are probably wondering why would they do this after all does this not cost them money? The truth is this new practice saves them money and helps to build their business at the same time. There are two reasons for this, let me explain.

The first reason to offer free transportation is that the economy since 2007 has been quite challenging causing many financial troubles in Las Vegas and the strip clubs are no exception. In the earlier part of the last decade several new upscale strip clubs opened for business in Las Vegas after all the town was booming with new hotels every year. Now with the economy being so challenging strip clubs have to create more of an incentive to get people to come in and getting a free limo ride to a strip club along with free admission is a strong incentive for most guys to pull money out of the ATM and spend an evening at the strip club.

The second reason has to do with the taxi cab drivers of Las Vegas. You see for a longtime now taxi cab drivers have played a huge part in the success of Las Vegas strip clubs. Many times a taxi driver will pick up a group of men from an upscale Las Vegas hotel who just want to be taken to a really good strip club. These guys will not have a clue on which club to go to and rely completely on the taxi driver to connect them with a worthy club.

What happens next is the taxi driver will take the guys to a club that gives him a bonus or kickback usually about $100 or so which is pretty close to what the cover charge is for 4 people to get into the club. If the strip club refuses to pay the taxi driver a bonus then chances are no more taxis will bring any future business to that club.

This is why many upscale strip clubs will provide free transportation and waive the cover charge all so they will not have to rely on and pay the sketchy taxi driver to bring them customers. Many times if an individual arrives to the club by any method other than a taxi they will also waive the cover charge. But come to the strip club by taxi and you will for sure pay that $30 cover charge as it mostly likely will end up going right the taxi driver’s pocket for bringing you there.

This my friend is why you never want to tell a Las Vegas taxi driver to take you to the best strip club in town as you will end up where the driver gets paid not necessarily the best strip club. That is just the way it is, several lawsuits later nothing has changed.

So, if you are coming to Las Vegas and plan on going to a strip club then first review Las Vegas strip clubs and then select one you wish to visit and contact them and schedule a free ride to and from the club. You may not only get free transportation but free admission as well.
